This article deals with literacy concepts and reports on an activity carried out with some students from the Portuguese section of the Department of Iberian and Latin American Studies (DEILA / Portuguese). The objective is to meet their needs through a literacy approach since gaps in their literacy training have consequences for their social insertion. However I highlight the notion of literacy according to some authors such as Soares (2009) Garcez (2019) and Justo and Rubio (2013). And in a practical way based on Freitas (et al 2020); Bortolini (2009); Correia (2016); and Kraemer (2012) I present one of the activities falling under the theme: academic life carried out via Facebook the result of which was the preparation of a formal email the social practice learned.
