PLATON'S VIEW OF THE DEMOCRATIC REGIME

About The Book

Despite the reflections of authors such as Montesquieu Rousseau Tocqueville and many other authors and political actors on democracy no one can claim to have definitively resolved the thorny question of the risks associated with democratic governance. With Plato we have the certainty that the tipping of democratic regimes into tyrannical and totalitarian regimes is nothing other than the result of the perverse effects linked to the excesses inherent in democracy. Therefore it is important to question Plato's view of democracy in order to protect society from the risks of tyrannization.
