Political Mobilization of Dalits in Andhra Pradesh

This book is about political mobilization of Dalits at global level to local level. Today Dalits are mobilizing at the global level not ’just’ for affirmative action from the state such as reservations in public sector which is a poor substitute for social justice expanding reservation is not about social justice for reservation in a rapidly privatizing educational system and a shrinking government sector proves a soft option. The demand now is not only to extend reservations to private sectors but of a many better ways of dealing with Dalit democratic aspirations- like land distribution income generating schemes free education and health. Thus the changing pattern of Dalit mobilization is increasing due to the increasing drifting of the welfare state.
