The work Decentralization as a factor for development of local self-government is dedicated to the problems of decentralized local self-government based on a comparative analysis of three municipalities from three neighboring countries – Bulgaria Greece and Turkey. The study is focused on decentralization processes as a factor for the development of local self-government and on the effectiveness of local self-government in the countries above in terms of their membership in the European Union. The book analyzes the opportunities for improvement of local self-government through a vertical and horizontal approach for supporting decentralization established through cross-border research of citizens' attitudes and administrative capacities. The methodology includes content analysis situation analysis SWOT analysis statistical methods and statistical processing and data analysis with SPSS sociological method – a survey conducted at the civil society level local and state administration in Bulgaria Greece and Turkey. The work consists of 11 chapters.
