There are very few literary works in Tamil that show how our society response to love marriages as well as inter caste marriages. But such marriages happening every now and then before our eyes. Perumal Murugan’s novel describes the problems experienced by two lovers who marry inter caste and how they solved them. The novel raises various questions on the issue from different angles.
