ABOUT THE BOOK:- Dr. Deepak Pawar is assistant professor at the Department of Civics and Politics at the University of Mumbai Maharashtra. He is in the teaching profession for last 20 years. His interest in Post Globalisation Politics of Language in Maharashtra stems from his decade long participation in the language movement in Maharashtra through Marathi Abhyas Kendra (Marathis study centre) a civil society organisation that he heads. He is a prolific writer and writes for newspapers. He participates as political analyst for discussions on television channels. At the state level advocacy efforts of his team have led to the establishment of the Department of Marathi Language in the Government of Maharashtra use of Unicode in the Government establishments and starting of media courses in Marathi. He is the founding member of CLEAR (Campaign for language equality and rights) a pan Indian organisation working for the betterment of Indian Languages and revisiting the federal design in India. He believes that Indian languages can meet the challenges of Globalisation only if they become the languages of employment advanced knowledge and languages of information and communication technology.
