Postmodernism and Amrican Realism in Mark Twain's Writing

American literature began with the oral myths and traditional stories of Native American cultures. American Literature is an American cultural product. American history shaped and produced American literature. Mark Twain is a comic writer who often treats his subject satirically. It is almost automatically assumed in Twain criticism that he is the satire of invective of almost heavy-handed irony.
