In the majority of cases surgical site infections can be avoided thanks to guidelines based on scientific evidence.Understanding the pathophysiological mechanisms of postoperative osteoarticular infection and identifying the risk factors for this complication will enable us to develop therapeutic and preventive strategies based on expert recommendations to help healthcare professionals reduce the risk of these infections occurring.
