Lignin the largest natural source of aromatic phenolic polymer has great potential for use in the synthesis of new adhesives provided that its reactivity is altered by modifying its chemical structure. The reactivity of lignin depends on the frequency of its monomeric units and can be altered through demethylation and phenolation processes. The book proposes an analysis of the shear strength at the glue line of Eucalyptus sp. wood using adhesives produced with Kraft lignin demethylated with hydrochloric acid and phenolized. In this context lignin-based adhesives could be recommended for industrial testing in the gluing of wood panels.
