Power Quality Improvement

About The Book

This text book on Power Quality Improvement is useful for U.GP.G & Ph.D students pursuing in Electrical Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering with Power Systems Power Electronics Control System and Energy systems specialization. This book is organized into six chapters. Chapter 1 comprises of introductory aspects of power quality followed by a detailed literature review. Chapter 2 presents the power quality concerns standards issues and effects of harmonics on various equipment’s. Harmonic mitigating techniques and their drawbacks are also discussed in this chapter. Chapter 3 describes the principle of operation and component design of active and passive filters. It also presents the mathematical modeling of SHAPF using Synchronous Reference Frame (SRF) theory. Chapter 4 presents various control strategies for SHAPF. Chapter 5 provides the results and discussions of various SIMULINK models implemented. Later the analysis of Fuzzy controlled SHAPF with the lab prototype is discussed. The performance of various control methods in SIMULINK and prototype environment is compared. Chapter 6 epitomizes the conclusions obtained from each chapter and suggested future scope.
