Power Relations and Gender in Organisations

About The Book

Some management models stress that interpersonal and power relations between individuals can determine multiple internal and external factors that lead to a new configuration of the organisational system. In this environment the important role of the female figure in the labour market stands out as well as the relationships experienced by women. It should be pointed out that although women have been gaining an important share of the organisational hierarchy there are still some obstacles to overcome such as the difference in pay and professional advancement especially in stereotypically male environments such as the military. With this in mind this book addresses the issue of power and gender relations in the High Command of the Military Police of the State of Minas Gerais seeking to understand how female police officers in senior positions in the administrative sectors of the PMMG perceive the manifestations of power and gender within the institution so this approach does not negate the need for a functionalist approach.
