Powering the Future

About The Book

In this book we explore the various forms of energy and their uses and limitations. Chapter 1 covers wind energy which is a clean and renewable source of electricity that is generated by converting the kinetic energy of wind into electrical energy using wind turbines. Chapter 2 discusses geothermal energy which is a clean and renewable source of electricity that is generated by capturing the heat from the earth and converting it into electrical energy. Chapter 3 covers nuclear energy which is a clean but potentially dangerous source of electricity that is generated by splitting atoms in a nuclear reactor. The book also covers other forms of energy such as electrical energy and its uses and limitations (Chapter 4) solar energy and its potential as a renewable source of electricity (Chapter 5) biomass energy and its role in renewable electricity generation (Chapter 6) and sound energy and its potential for energy conversion (Chapter 7).In Chapter 8 we examine hydropower and its uses and limitations regarding climate change. We also explore the impact of energy production and use on the environment in Chapter 9 and the effects of wind energy on farmers in Chapter 10. Finally in Chapter 11 we discuss batteries and the storage of energy.Overall this book provides a comprehensive overview of the various forms of energy their potential and limitations and their impact on the environment and society.
