<p>1967 a summer of love in the lush Hudson Valley where maple seeds twirl lightning bugs blink and the death count from the war is portrayed faithfully and graphically each night on the news. Teal and Darcy's world is sweet as chocolate cool as menthol cigarettes tender and sunburned as their milk white skin. But a sweet tooth for candies is not all they share and some things are not shared at all. Their fathers one dead and one all too alive both bind them and tear them apart the secrets and half-truths and pinky-swear deals snowballing fast toward the end when the sleepy old hollow and ghosts of the past are revealed in their stark winter's robe. </p>
