About The Book

Preparation of a novel Schiff base ligand namely (N2Z)- N1N2-bis(furan-2-ylmethylene)oxalamide (L1) and its mixed ligand complexes of some transition metal ions such as (Cr(III) Mn(II) Fe(III) Co(II) Ni(II) Cu(II) Zn(II) and Cd(II) with the synthesized Schiff base ligand (1ry ligand) in the presence of nitrogen containing ligands such as 110-phenanthroline and 22''-bipyridine (2ry ligand). The Schiff base ligand and its mixed ligand metal complexes were characterized based on many analytical techniques such as elemental analysis molar conductance magnetic moment IR 1H NMR UV- Visible solid reflectance mass X-ray diffraction ESR thermal analyses techniques (TG and DTG) and different activation thermodynamic parameters namely E* ΔH* ΔS* and ΔG* were calculated from their DTG curves to throw more light on the nature of changes accompanying the thermal decomposition process of these complexes. The resultant data revealed that mixed ligand complexes have octahedral structure. The antimicrobial and anticancer (breast and colon cancer) activities of the Schiff base ligand and its mixed ligand complexes were also investigated.
