This paper is a descriptive theoretical review of concepts associated with the limitation or adequacy of therapeutic effort a controversial issue that is having an important role in the hospital environment and with greater emphasis on the intensive care unit due to technological and medical advances that point towards the preservation of life however sometimes all professional technicality does not achieve the desired achievement or if achieved is at the cost of precarious living conditions that end up developing a slow death unreasonable leading to increased suffering of patients families and doctors.
