This study was the first in its kind conducted in Ethiopia and uses standardized and diagnostic instruments and considered variables other than socio demographic variables as independent variable. Limitations include the cross sectional nature of the study and associated factors are assessed for life time co-occurring substance use disorders which may not indicate prediction for active substance use disorders for interventions.
