This cross sectional study was done in Nand Nagri an urban resettlement colony of Delhi from Aug 2010-Feb 2012. A total of 310 subjects aged 20-59 years were studied through Multi stage systematic random sampling. Prevalence awareness treatment and control of hypertension and other associated variables were observed and recorded. BP was measured and recorded according to JNC-VII and AHA recommendations physical measurements namely WC WHR and BMI were also recorded using WHO guidelines. A pretested structured schedule was used to identify if any: presence of Hypertension OH current anti hypertensive treatment non pharmacological measures status of awareness treatment and control of BP risk factors (smoking alcohol physical activity salt intake etc) presence of TOD/ CCD family history of hypertension and/ diabetes and/ CCD Reasons behind no treatment or irregular treatment among hypertensive subjects and socio-demographic data of subjects. On applying m.l.r. Age > 30 yrs Sedentary Occupation High WC Positive family history of hypertension in both parents and above average daily salt intake were found to be significantly associated risk factors.
