The book on The Principles of Procurement and Agribusiness Management is an outcome of a research project taken up for the purpose of award of M.S. Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management of Heriot Watt University Dubai Campus Dubai. Though the project on Procurement Practices is focusing mainly on the procurement aspects of Fast Moving Consumer Goods in a hypermarket located at Coimbatore City of Tamil Nadu India an intuition came to the author to convert the project findings in the form of a book entitled “Procurement Management” to serve the needs of the students and staffs aspiring pioneering works in Procurement.On examining the curriculum of Agricultural Economics Economics Commerce and Management disciplines the separate subject on procurement is almost absent. But the procurement subject is incorporated as one of the subject in the teaching program in the above disciplines and hence the planners in the academic environment should incorporate “Procurement Management” as one of the subject in the above disciplines to infuse expertise among the students and the staffs making procurement.Many of the Managers and officials appointed in the Government and Quasi Government institutions are unaware about the procurement practices and finds difficulties in making purchase of the essentials in their organization which hampers the productivity. In this respect the book has incorporated the theory behind the procurement procurement methods and procedures practiced by the Government and Quasi Government organizations in India and how they are practicing the procurement in a real sense by fine tuning the results obtained from the project to suit the consumer needs.
