As a high school junior the spectrum of Kate Mckenzie's life is laid out before her. Although she doesn't enjoy school's drudgery she is looking forward to her senior year and venturing into the world. Her dreams change in a flash though when she kills a would-be rapist in self-defense her life has changes forever.<p> She thought no one witnessed the murder but soon discovers that Rusty the Lad in Leather as Kate's mom calls him saw the whole thing. As the son of the richest man in town Rusty's knows his father wants him to marry and settle down before managing a piece of the family business. He sweetly blackmails Kate into marriage but then strips away her every freedom plunging her life into desolation.<p> Just as Rusty used her to escape his circumstances Kate devises a plan to escape his vicious control. Prisms cast colorful light onto how circumstances choices and a woman's convictions lead her out of darkness and into a life of light.
