Antibiotic resistance is a growing global concern. Indiscriminate use of antibiotics in animals both as therapeutic interventions and growth promoters also contribute to the emerging resistance patterns. Probiotics the most commonly used alternatives to antibiotics can be defined as live microorganisms that when administered in adequate amounts confer a health benefit on the host. Probiotics are conventionally used in myriad of specially formulated feed supplements for poultry companion animals and farm animals. This book details the characterization of probiotic microorganisms isolated from natural ecosystem and its potential use as clinical interventions in bovine endometritis.
