Promises of August

<p><span style=background-color: rgba(255 255 255 1); color: rgba(15 17 17 1)>Henry and Elena have been best friends for what feels like forever. She's shared her part of the ocean with Henry and her close-knit family together every August as they grew up and discovered their mutual passion for writing together from a young age. Usually they write letter after letter to each other as they wait for August to come once again. However as this August approaches Elena is worried it won't uphold its promises. After the unexpected death of Henry's Grandpa Joe causing him and his family to have to miss last summers trip it's been nearly a year since she's seen her best friend. It's been just under a year since he's even written back to her. After experiencing the loneliest year of her life Elena is desperate to escape reality at the one place she feels she truly can...by the ocean. But as promises are broken and the wall of writer's block gets tougher to break down she starts to wonder if she'll ever be able to truly escape from the forcing choices of adulthood that seem to constantly remind her she's no longer a kid and she's starting to notice that neither is her best friend.</span></p>
