If it were up to her Cady Moretti would skip the holiday season. Growing up as a foster kid it wasn't like she had any real family to spend Christmas with anyway. No she's totally fine spending her time working at the local assisted living home and studying to become a nurse. Though having enough money to get through her final semesters of college would be nice.

Stephen Parker needs to get through the rest of winter break without getting into any trouble. Especially since his parents can't afford any more generous donations to his law school. On academic probation and at risk of losing his inheritance if he doesn't get his degree Stephen just wants to spend the holiday season hiding in his room and secretly reading poetry. His plans are foiled however when he's tasked with visiting his grandmother at the assisted living home-something no one wants to do especially since The Incident last Christmas.

When more than one mishap occurs as Cady and Stephen cross paths they suddenly find themselves in charge of planning Chestnut Pines Assisted Living's annual Christmas party. It would be a piece of cake-if only they could agree on anything. Through quirky residents an ice skating disaster an absurdly lavish holiday ball and a jaw-dropping family secret Cady and Stephen must learn that some promises are worth breaking-and some are promises to keep.
