Protection by polyamines in age induced alterations in maizes leaves

About The Book

Photosynthesis is one of the most important physiological processes that detect plant growth and development. This process can be influenced by several inherent factors like aging (senescence) external factors like different aboitic stress conditions. Therefore in this investigation senescence is artificially induced by incubating the primary leaves of 8th day old maize plants for different intervals (24-72h) in dark in the presence and absence of polyamines (Put Spm Spd 25µM). Since maize is an economically important crop plant it has been selected due to it’s agronomically importance as experimental system. After incubation in the presence and absence of polyamines leaves have been sampled and thylakoid membranes have been isolated and proceed to measure the photochemical activities using polarographic spectroscopic instruments and electrophoretic analysis.
