Protection of forests in the Congo Basin under Congolese law

The forests of the Congo Basin are tropical rainforests that constitute a major reserve of plant biodiversity the use and protection of which require in-depth study. For several decades these forests have been under serious threat leading to deforestation and forest degradation. They are exploited at a frantic pace with no respect for national and international standards.
