The research sought to analyze the psychological and social characteristics of those convicted of aggravated robbery at the National Penitentiary of Tacumbú. The specific objectives such as identifying personality traits prevalent in the sample studied describing psychosocial characteristics of the convicts and establishing reintegration expectations. The research approach was quantitative with a non-experimental and cross-sectional design; 100 inmates were studied. The instrument used for the measurement of the variable to be studied was the Personality Assessment Inventory (PAI) developed by Leslie C. Morey (2007) with a Spanish update by Margarita Ortiz-Tallo et al. (2011). For the analysis of the data from the instrument the statistical program SPSS 20 was used. The main results of the study were: Paranoia Antisocial traits and lack of social support were the most significant clinical personality scales. As for the psychosocial characteristics lack of dominance and poor agreeableness could be identified.
