Psychological knowledge

The meanings adopted for the term objectivity in the field of psychological knowledge have been so numerous and divergent that the concept has become a veritable palimpsest. Depending on the theory approach or current that is chosen as a reference standard the notion of objectivity acquires diverse and even antagonistic meanings. This situation -perhaps typical of the state of development of our discipline- has significantly diminished communication among psychologists to such an extent that frequently dialogue among them has become practically impossible.
