Ethel Blanche Claiborne Dameron (Puffy) was born and raised inNew Roads Louisiana. Her husband Irving was in the leveeconstruction business with his Father so they moved along withtheir four children from state to state. Following in her Fatherspattern of being involved Puffy began her civic endeavors inearnest once the family settled at Sandbar Plantation in PortAllen Louisiana. The development of the West Baton Rouge Libraryand West Baton Rouge Historical Association/Museum along with thehonoring of Henry Watkins Allen the erection of State Historicmarkers and the enrollment of live oaks in the Live Oak Societyare just a few of the many events recounted in Puffys Legacy. Asan 8th generation descendent of Col. William Claiborne her legacyto the Parish and State of Louisiana lives on and continues to growtoday.
