Poetry keeps step with man since the first days of civilization. And civilization was put to test in probably the harshest manner in the twentieth century. It saw innumerable challenges to human hope and integrity by wars deaths revolutions and emancipations. 'Purano sab kobir lekha' is a Bengali translation of selected poems by Nobel Laureate poets in the first half of twentieth century . This book humbly tries to make a sense of what those great poets thought about life. What did the poets value most? It was not war nor revolution nor misery. Every great poet held on to human love and hope and expressed it in their poetry unequivocally.
