This book is written for advanced nursing students and nurse researchers who have important questions about qualitative research. It addresses some of the problematic issues in qualitative research. Leading qualitative methodologists from orientations in phenomenology grounded theory and ethnography contribute specific chapters on their favourite `sticky issues'' which were also the basis for the dialogues included in the volume. With the exception of a few chapters that describe a single method the problems discussed touch every qualitative nursing project: improving the use of self examining one''s own culture some myths and realities of qualitative sampling debates about counting and coding data and ethical issues in interviewing. Issues in funding institutional and peer review for publication are also considered. The stimulating `Dialogues'' reflect the active disagreements and different solutions found in the papers thus accurately indicating the state of the science in nursing today.
