Quality control of low carbon steel: a holistic approach

Carbon Steel primarily an alloy of Carbon and Iron has over the years evolved into a commonly used material which is widely applied in various engineering products such as in buildings ships automobiles machines and appliances. Low carbon steel particularly due to its unique properties such as strength toughness ductility and malleability is often used in many applications one of which is in structural beams of buildings and bridges. Considering the delicate nature of such application of which its failure in service could result in fatal consequences e.g loss of lives and properties due to a building or bridge collapse it is imperative quality standards are met in the production of this widely-used material. The book therefore provides a detailed and holistic approach to quality control of this material in order to give a rounded and accurate assessment of its suitability.
