Effluent waste water from the submerged anaerobic membrane bioreactor does not meet regulatory standards for discharge into the environment and therefore needs further treatment before it can be considered safe for discharge. This book is a record of experiments and results obtained therefrom to study the effects of various physico chemical treatment suitable for further reducing the organic content of this effluent stream to levels acceptable for discharge into the environment in order to determine the most effective treatment as well as the optimum conditions and mode of operations kinetics and most suitable adsorbent for organic matter reduction in a SAMBR. Experiments were also carried out to study the effect on coagulation on adsorption. Furthermore the effects of certain plasticizers present in the submerged anaerobic membrane bioreactor(SAMBR) effluent namely Hydroxyl Biphenyl Bis-2- Ethylhexyl phthalate and 2 Phenyl phenol were studied to determine their effects on the microbial culture in the reactor and subsequently on the volume of CH4 gas production.
