Quality Standards and Monographs of Sri Lankan Medicinal Plants

Authentic plant materials were procured from several geographical locations. Details of pharmacognostic features were collected and quantitative standards and phytochemical profiles were generated. Information on the distribution of the plants vernacular names chemical constituents pharmacological activity adulterants/substitutes therapeutic claims safety aspects and dosage was derived from the published literature and classical books. Literature search for each plant was made reviewed and only the relevant information was incorporated from original articles. The monograph starts with the botanical name with authority family name synonyms selected vernacular names pharmacopoeia plant description distribution agronomical details part used main constituents medicinal uses other uses ayurvedic/ traditional medicinal preparations pharmacology dose physico-chemical parameters TLC identity test references of the plant.
