<p>Three Aboriginal girls are forcibly removed from their outback families in 1931 to be trained as domestic servants as part of official government policy. They escape and begin a 1500-mile journey home using a rabbit-proof fence as their guide with the authorities chasing them all the way. </p><p>Winner of a NSW Premier's Award for Script Writing and a Community Relations Commission Award the screenplay is adapted from Doris Pilkington Garimara's book<em> Follow the Rabbit-Proof Fence</em> which is based on her mother's true story.</p>
