Rabies Coat Protein Expression in Plants and its Efficacy as Vaccine

Rabies is one of the oldest known diseases of mankind. In India it is known since Vedic period as corroborated in Atherva Veda. Rabies is a neurotropic disease caused by rabies virus which belongs to family Rhabdoviridae. Rabies virus spread over in almost all the continents and covers more than 150 countries. Especially developing countries are worst hit by this disease where annually more than 50000 human deaths occur. Awareness of people about this disease and appropriate treatment can only reduce the mortality rate.
