Rāma-Japa—the constant repetition of the—is usually done mentally or on a rosary; but there is one extremely efficacious method of this Japa: the Likhita-Japa. The practice of writing the Rāma Mantra over and over on paper is called the Likhita-Japa. This is a Journal for the Likhita Rama-Nama Japa or the Written-Chant of the Hindu God Rama. The written form of Japa is a lasting record of chant remaining ever imbued with those holy vibrations for all times for the benefit of writer and the future generations.

A grid of 21 by 48 (1008 boxes) is provided for the user to be able to write a thousand Rāma Names per page. With 108 pages to write upon and with space for 1008 names per page users can write the 100000 Rāma Names in this Journal.

Sometimes Devotees make a faint underlying sketch on the page—or create designs on the fly. As a sample we have on each page printed outlines of a larger Rāma-Nāma. If you write the Rāma Nāmas within the outlines using color/size/slant which is different from the outside—then that way a large Rāma Name will also pop out from amongst the waves of surrounding Rāma-Nāmas.
