About The Book

Giving up was never an option for me. I knew I was more than what anyone could break. I fought hard for my liberation from a young age. Born in Jerusalem a proud Palestinian from a beautiful place called Silwan I left home only to encounter a different kind of oppression: domestic abuse. I struggled fiercely to reclaim my voice determined to do it for myself first and then for my children. After many years I finally made it out.My journey to self-worth along with writing and my creative expression helped me persevere. Today I stand as my own hero and this poetry is deeply personal. Many of the poems in this book were written while I was bedridden grappling with the severe injustices I faced. It's a reflection of my journey toward freedom. If you find yourself in a similar situation I hope my poems inspire you to keep fighting for your own liberation. No one deserves to endure abuse. We are not possessions; we are worthy of love and respect. As a Palestinian woman from Jerusalem I carry my heritage with pride and I hope my words resonate with others who share similar struggles.
