Reading the gospel of Mark

The starting point is the current text of the Gospel. What Jesus said and did the event through which God reveals himself as Lord of history close to and involved with human affairs is presented as a book written in the second half of the 1st century AD in a specific cultural environment. The first level of reading is the one that applies to the book: understanding what the author intends to say with his language and his conception of the world.
