About The Book

The book of Genesis introduces three similar wife/sister narratives (Gen 12:10--13:1 20:1-18 and 26:1-11) commonly thought to originate from different sources because of their repetitive nature. This book explores these wife/sister narratives in Genesis and aims to provide an understanding of the three stories as a whole through text-linguistic and literary type-scene analysis. Each wife/sister narrative is examined to see how it functions in its context and how it contributes to the patriarchal narratives as a whole by highlighting Gods faithfulness to His promises (Gen 12:1-3). It is argued that the three tales do not come from different sources but from a single author and that they are each integral to the plot of Genesis.
