Ready to Rock

Who can understand the mind of an adolescent? Why none other than an adolescent himself. When the adolescent is the creator writer and articulator of all the trials tribulations and turbulence then what emerges is the unique and original story of Ready to Rock. The author Ronen Chatterjee never immersed himself in the stories of Enid Blyton the Hardy Boys Nancy Drew or Billy Bunter. Yet as arguably Indias youngest novelist at the age of fourteen (his debut novel was titled Fire Within) Ronen has framed this story against the backdrop of Sherwood College Nainital which he has visited twice since it was his fathers alma mater. Emerging from his vivid imagination are a group of boys and girls who go through various incidents all of which are part of schooling and growing up. Their fights rivalries aspirations and heartaches can be easily appreciated by teenagers and adults alike. The young author has managed to weave together humour action and romance which leave the reader riveted to the unfolding plot and sub-plots. Arjun Yuvraj Dhir Sunny Vijay Avantika Meher Shweta and Akansha are some of the characters the reader meets while going through this school story. It is the story of an Indian boy penning the story of Indian students in an Indian boarding school. Yet the passion the emotions and the action are all truly universal. Readers young and old will find it easy to empathise with the novel and all those who are in it. Ronen deserves kudos for the way in which he has conceived the story line and the way in which he has taken it forward to its final denouement.
