Recidivism Emotional Intelligence and Creativity Thinking

The issue of recidivism and the continual increase in the rate of recidivism has been of great concern to psychologists criminologists researchers and government of most nations of the world. An increase in the rate of recidivism raises a poser on the effectiveness of the rehabilitative and reformatory functions of the prison system; questions the justification for the huge amount of funds spent in prisoners reformation rehabilitation.The aim of this book is to provide a report on the investigation of the effectiveness of six thinking hats and emotional intelligence training in reducing recidivism among male offenders. It also reports on the current level of creativity thinking and the emotional intelligence of recidivists. Participants of the study were exposed to a six week training using the six thinking hats and emotional intelligence as intervention techniques. The two intervention techniques had significant effects on the creativity thinking ability and emotional intelligence of participants who were exposed to training. It was recommended that creativity thinking and emotional intelligence training form part of the rehabilitation and reformatory curriculum of offenders.
