Reconfiguring Space

The specific focus of my written research is acomparative study of Filippo Brunelleschi'sperspective device and the virtual reality work ofChar Davies. This comparative study focuses on theingredients of both devices as well as thesimilarities between the environments in which theywere demonstrated. Brunelleschi's Peephole deviceaccording to his biographer Manetti firstdemonstrated perspective theory in the earlyfifteenth century. Brunelleschi¹s device with itsthree main components the mirror the burnishedsilver and the painted panel are examined in regardsto the environment it was demonstrated in. Thedissertation explores these elements as the essentialconceptual ingredients for the reconfiguration ofspace in modern times. Aspects of Brunelleschi'sdevice are also examined creatively in my practical work.
