Recurrent aphthous ulceration (RAU) is a benign ulcerated lesion frequently found in the non-keratinized oral mucosa. Its etiopathogenesis has not yet been precisely established however it is known that some factors are related to its cause such as local systemic immunological genetic allergic nutritional and microbial factors. Several treatments are recommended to promote repair control symptoms and reduce the frequency of recurrences as there is no definitive cure for these ulcers. This study aims to present the causal factors of RAB its clinical characteristics diagnostic criteria and therapeutic challenges focusing on clinical management and advances in laser therapy.
