Redefining Food Security

Food security is one of today's most urgent global challenges influenced by poverty climate change and population growth. It involves not only the availability of sufficient and nutritious food but also social economic and environmental factors affecting human life. Food security rests on three pillars: availability access and utilization. Disruptions in any pillar especially during crises lead to food insecurity. This book explores these complexities in four chapters: the concept and global challenges of food security; impacts of land use changes and agricultural productivity; the crucial role of water resources; and the effects of war and conflict on food systems. Achieving sustainable food security requires multi-sector cooperation and equitable distribution worldwide.
