General Order. Horse Guards. 1st April 1857. ''The General Commanding in Chief has received Her Majestys special commands to declare that any Colonel or Commanding Officer who shall take upon himself to introduce or sanction the addition of any ornament lace or embroidery or to sanction a deviation from the approved patters in any respect whatsoever without due authority being previously obtained for that purpose will incur Her Majestys displeasure.
