REGULATORY FRAMEWORK FOR NON-PRESCRIPTION DRUGS IN U.S & INDIA

Self-care and self-medication play an essential role in the healthcare system as it includes the use of Over-The-Counter (OTC) or Non-Prescription drugs. These drugs are used to treat minor ailments like cough cold headache body pains vomiting etc. United States is a highly regulated country and follows the rules and regulations given by U.S.FDA. At present India has no definite regulations that are to be followed it follows U.S.FDA. Due to the lack of stringent regulations these drugs lead to abuse as they are easily available in the market either in pharmacies or in departmental stores. From Covid-19 Pandemic till now drug categories like cough and cold are being abused.
