Relationship among Self-efficacy Creativity and Translation ability

About The Book

The present study attempts to investigate the possible relationship among translation students ‘self-efficacy creativity and the quality of their performance in translating non-core words. First out of 55 undergraduate translation students studying at Islamic Azad University Rasht Branch 40 participants were selected and homogenized in terms of language proficiency through a TOEFL test. Then translation students’self-efficacy and creativity were measured through a forty-item and sixty-item questionnaires respectively. The tests were scored according to the original. Afterwards a text of ten sentences (151 words) was administered to the whole participants to translate it into Persian. The participants’ translation products were also evaluated by an integrated evaluative model of Farahzad (1992) and Waddington (1995).The statistical results revealed the existence of positive relationships among the three variables. The study also found that those who had a strong belief in their ability were also more creative and performed better their job than those who doubt their self-efficacy and were in a lower state of creativity.
