A proper introduction is due for the black woman and her hair. To actively put the world on notice that by no means do we pose a threat because we've chosen to display our most authentic selves. For years a negative system has been associated with Black Natural Hair which in turn has created a culture of women who do not recognize their own reflections. Civil Rights activist Angela Davis said I am remembered as a hairdo it is humiliating because it reduces a politics of liberation to a politics of fashion. Spending years in a version that's deemed worthy of society's standard of beauty takes hard work and dedication. The trials and errors involved take a toll on you but once you perfect the possibilities are endless. The rewards such as acceptance promotion and recognition for someone otherwise considered invisible make it all worthwhile.
