About The Book

For forty-eight years I have labored over my students' writing. I have also edited poetry short stories and academic articles. Thus I am sure you will concur with me after reading Mr. Huntoon's work that he speaks plainly about his life his biblical knowledge and with a compassionate heart.

I can personally attest to his Christianity because he still calls me a friend! You see Harland writes the way he preaches. When preaching he modulates his intonation and uses volume and pacing to convey the salient points of his lesson. It was necessary to inform him that he could not just capitalize or underline these important sections or use more than one question or exclamation symbol at sentences' ends. When he received the first draft of my corrections I am sure he thought I had worked under terrible pain because the manuscript was black white and red all over!

My criticisms elicited naught but grateful thanks for my labors. My harangues were greeted with smiles and love. Right there Harland demonstrated how ardent a Christian he is. Believe me my work with other authors has never been as easy for your humble editor.

What we have here is a work of love spawned by heartache loss and disillusionment followed by the joyous discovery of Jesus Christ. Many have experienced this reversal of lifestyle. Harland's story is not as shocking or graphic as others have written but the ring of truthfulness is unmistakable. Some may find it too sentimental for their taste; however there is no doubting the appropriateness of the scriptural references.

My work has been but a minor credit. Harland's chief aide has been his loving wife Kathy. Her encouragement has never wavered her belief in her man is steadfast and her love for Harland can be plainly seen by all. This is an afterword not a foreword so you have already read Harland's book and understand the truthfulness of what I have written about its joyful message its reminiscences and its charm and practical advice. I believe you will be talking to your friends about it purchasing copies for gifts and dare I say rereading it for your own enjoyment. A book like this is meant to be shared.

Larry Purkey

San Antonio Texas

Retired English Teacher

Editor Superb

Precious Brother in Christ

Member of Grisson Road Church of Christ

He and his sweet wife Mary are wonderful friends.
