Remote Sensing and Ground Penetration Radar in Archaeology Detection

About The Book

In order to discover what exists beneath the surface of the ground the Archaeologists used to drill the site by dividing the place into squares so the luck will play a big role. The ground penetrating radar (GPR) is able to identify and detect walls and archaeological objects buried underground disappear without the need for drilling. This reduces the effort and money needed to detect and more importantly which keeps the environment of the place. This book describes an application of the ground penetrating radar to solving archaeology problems in the AL-Rumaitha (Iraq) to record the position and shape of archaeological features in 2D 3D. It is based on the PhD dissertation written in Baghdad University /college of Science. The work is intended to give a general overview of the Geophysics and offer an advice on the use of GPR to detect archaeology features. As an example of integrated studies this book could be of interest for professionals in geophysics archaeology geology remote sensing.
