About The Book

The study was carried out to investigate the association between haemoglobin (Hb) packed cell volume (PCV) total erythrocytes count (TEC) total leukocytes count (TLC) plasma glucose level thyroid hormones (T3 and T4) and repeat breeding syndrome in cross-bred dairy cows reared under semi-intensive system. Forty cross-bred (Kenana × Holistein Friesian) dairy cows multiparas (2 - 4) apparently healthy cows. Their age (4 - 8 years) and body condition score (2.5 - 3) were selected for this study. The animals were distributed according to the record in to two equal groups. Group A (20 cows) was normal cyclic cows as control. Group B (20 cows) were repeat breeder cows. The study concluded that hypoglycemia and leukocytosis are associated with repeat breeding syndrome in dairy cows. Treatment of hypoglycemia by supplementation before breeding improves the reproductive efficiency of dairy cows.
